What Is Important to Avoid After PRF?

Have you been searching for a natural and safe skin restoration treatment with proven results? Well, look no further than Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) in The Woodlands, TX. It is becoming increasingly popular to find “natural” solutions to solve age-related cosmetic concerns. What is more natural than a treatment method that’s derived from your body’s own healing and growth factors?

Keep reading to learn more about PRF and what you should avoid after your PRF treatment.

What Is PRF?

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a new generation of platelet-rich plasma (PRP), both of which can be created using elements found in your own bloodstream. Unlike PRP, PRF has the added benefit of being completely natural with no additives or added anticoagulants. This allows for a higher concentration of anti-aging and skin repairing cells without the discomfort associated with the anticoagulants.

How Does PRF Work?

During your procedure, Dr. Guy will start by drawing your blood. This is very similar to what you’ve experienced at your primary care office when having routine lab work done. After the blood draw, the tubes holding your blood will be put through a low-speed centrifuge to separate the PRF from the rest of the blood.

Once the PRF has been successfully extracted, Dr. Guy will inject it using a very fine needle into facial wrinkles and folds. After that, the PRF does all the work of healing and regenerating your skin.

The PRF also allows for weeks of visible volume enhancement, similar to how dermal fillers fill certain areas of the face where volume has noticeably diminished. After about 4-6 weeks, this volume will gradually go down, leaving your skin noticeably brighter and tighter.

What To Avoid After Your PRF Treatment

Just like with any procedure, you’ll want to protect your investment. In this case, your investment is your own skin. Here are a few simple ways to help your body heal and regenerate.

  • Avoid sun expose- Wear sunscreen and protective clothing whether you are indoors or outside, as harmful UV rays can have a negative effect on the skin.
  • Avoid alcohol- Alcohol can be inflammatory and can cause redness, blotchiness, and an uneven skin tone. Try to avoid it as much as possible to allow your PRF treatment to do its work.
  • Avoid harsh exfoliants- If you regularly use chemical exfoliants like glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or lactic acid, be sure to discuss with Dr. Guy if you should continue to use these after your treatment.
  • Avoid hot showers- While it feels nice on a cold day or after a long day of work, hot water can be drying and damaging to the skin. Try to keep your shower at a comfortable temperature setting, especially when washing your face.
