What are Chemical Peels?
By using a carefully formulated chemical solution, chemical peels effectively remove the outermost layer of facial skin. In doing this, your body will naturally begin to generate collagen and elastin, two of the primary components of healthy and youthful skin. People often find that chemical peels are an incredible solution for treating many of their recurring skin concerns.
What are the Benefits of Chemical Peels?
There are several different types of peels that you can choose from, and Dr. Guy will help you find the most appropriate option for your unique skin issues.
Chemical peels can provide a number of proven benefits, including:
- Softer, smoother, and younger-looking skin
- A boost in collagen and elastin production
- Skin resurfacing
- Acne scar improvement
- Wrinkle and line reduction
- A more youthful profile
- Increased confidence and self-esteem
- Continually improved results over multiple treatments
- Improvement in splotchy skin (with certain peels)
- Improvement in melasma (with certain peels)
What are the Types of Chemical Peels?
Dr. Guy fully understands that the subtlest differences matter when it comes to giving his patients the look they want. For this reason, he offers chemical peels in a variety of strengths:
Lighter chemical peels remove the top layer of skin (epidermis) to target wrinkles, acne, uneven skin tone, and dryness. This type of peel is best when used on a regular schedule of one treatment every 2 to 5 weeks.
This type removes skin from both the top layer (epidermis) and the upper portion of the middle layer (dermis). Medium peels are best when targeting moderate wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tone. They work best when having a treatment every nine months.
As the most robust peel option, deep peels penetrate through to the mid and lower layers of your skin. This peel is the most suitable for more severe wrinkles, scars, or growths. This duration of result of this peel is closer to 5 years and is only for appropriate candidates.
Dr. Guy will use his expertise and training to determine which of these options, if any, are suitable methods to address your concerns. For the lighter chemical peels, these are frequently performed by our esthetician and nurse. For the medium depth peels that is performed by our nurse and Dr. Guy. For our deeper peels, that is only performed by Dr. Guy.
