Brow Lift in The Woodlands, TX
With age, our facial skin will naturally begin to lose laxity in several areas. The brow line is a common area for skin to lose its elasticity and begin to descend. While this can make you appear older, cause discomfort, and even obstruct vision in some cases, there is a fantastic method that can turn back the clock on this condition.
Brow lifts are an amazing way to restore skin and tissues around your brow line. Dr. W. Marshall Guy, an expertly trained and double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, is a master of facial anatomy. He is renowned for his attention to detail, outstanding patient care, and unmatched results. Dr. Guy looks forward to using his expertise and values to help you achieve the brow lift results you desire.
What Causes a Drooping Brow Line?
With age, the brow begins to drop, and the outside corner turns downward. With excess ptosis (drooping), the brow can push down on the upper eyelid and even begin to obstruct your vision. It is important to distinguish between the brow and the upper eyelid as the cause for a “tired” eye, as the treatment, although complimentary, differs.
What is a Brow Lift & What are the Benefits?
Brow lifts, also known as forehead lifts, are cosmetic surgeries that aim to:
- Reduce wrinkles and lines in the brow line and upper portion of the face.
- Lift sagging brows.
- Restore a more youthful-looking face.
- Revive natural expressions.
- Improve self-confidence.
This procedure can be highly beneficial to those looking to treat their condition, especially when they partner with an expert with Dr. Guy’s qualifications.

What are my Brow Lift Options?
Dr. Guy uses several approaches for brow lifts that will depend on your unique situation.
This method involves making an incision directly above the eyebrow. The direct approach is very rarely chosen, as it leaves a noticeable scar. However, for patients with facial paralysis and one eyebrow drooping, it can be a great option. This is the most effective method to raise the brow predictably, but the resulting scar is not usually acceptable.
This involves making two separate incisions in wrinkles present in the forehead. This is only an option for patients with very deep forehead wrinkles that would hide the incisions. Similarly to the direct approach, it can reliably raise the brow, but the scar is not usually acceptable unless you already have deeper forehead wrinkles. For those with deep forehead wrinkles and thinning hair, it can be an excellent option.
One positive aspect of this incision is that it can lower a high hairline while also raising the brows. It does lead to temporary and, in some cases, permanent numbness of the top of the head, but can do an excellent job raising the brow and lowering the high hairline.
This is similar to the pretrichial approach, except the incision is about an inch farther back within the hair. The coronal method conceals the incision, but it does raise the hairline, which may not always be a good option. It also has the same risk of numbness as the pretrichial approach.
This is useful when only the outer corners of the brows have fallen. This incision is placed within the hairline, but it is much smaller than the coronal or pretrichial incisions. The temporal incision is often included as part of a facelift.
This involves using several smaller incisions within the hairline and using endoscopic cameras to raise the brows. The endoscopic approach hides all incisions within the hairline and reduces the risk of numbness. It can be an excellent option for most patients.
